Discover Verbal Aikido®

transform conflict to conversation

Triangle of VA movements

Interview with VA creator Luke Archer

Three simple movements

Verbal Aikido® is the practice of moving between three postures of centered communication: Me, You and Us. Practitioners develop fluidity of movement between these 3 postures using a wide variety of VA (Verbal Aikido) techniques.

Each movement combines a technique (what we say) with a centered communication posture (how we say it). This combination of wording and attitude helps defuse conflicts by protecting all parties involved.

“Aiki is not a means to fight or defeat an enemy. It is the way to reconcile the world and to make human beings one family.”

Morihei Ueshiba (Founder of Aikido)

Verbal Aikido practitioners train regularly to develop the reflexes to de-escalate tension when it appear in exchanges.
